Living With Passion & Purpose = Wealth & Wisdom
Recently, I had dinner with Jack (not his real name), a gentleman who seemed to have it all, including two homes, one at the beach and the other a country estate. He was retired from a successful business, flew his own airplane, sold Mercedes automobiles as a hobby and drove the best that auto manufacture had available. Jack took leisurely walks along the beach and spent lots of time with friends. It seemed that Jack was living an idyllic life, but not according to him. One bland day blended into the next. He complained that his life was empty because none of his material things gave him joy or pleasure. Jack complained constantly about the state of the world and continued to be negative about any subject discussed. A trip to Europe and even his nights out with the guys were no longer enjoyable. The hole in his soul seemed beyond repair. Jack had wealth and yet not the wisdom to have joy, delight or zest in his life.
No matter much money Jack had or did not have, he literally vibrated with an abundance of lack and limitations. What Jack really lacked was passion and purpose in his life. It didn't take long to realize that Jack seemed to enjoy being stuck in his sad life story. What magic might have happened if Jack changed his conversation (story) giving more time, thought, and energy to talking about re-creating his life and fillling it with passion and purpose.
Are you like Jack, or do you take time to focus your thinking and actions on your passion and purpose? The first step is to determine your particular passion. Knowing your passion and soul's purpose makes the desire to actually live it the most powerful driving force in your life. It becomes more powerful and bigger than your fears and old story. Fears don't seems as important as your passion takes hold at a deep, internal level, helping you to set priorities and make wise day-to-day decisions. Without even realizing it, you are living life with renewed energy, optimism and appreciation for all that life has given you.
What patterns in your past experience have driven you to become the person you are today? What do you want to contribute to others? How do you want to be remembered? Is there a zest for life within you just waiting to come out? You might do the following exercise to key into the answers to the above questions. Pretend, for a moment, that in ten days you will be receiving the award for THE BEST LIFE THAT HAS EVER BEEN LIVED. Write your own introduction. Stretch it to include what you've you always wanted to be, to accomplish, and to have as part of your life, material and otherwise. Once it is written, take the Journey to Wealth & Wisdom each day by taking effective action toward living with passion and purpose.
